New The Complete "Metropolis"
An interesting story of discovery of a full print of "Metropolis" in Buenos Aires.

http://www.nytimes.c...tropolis.html?hpw

Coming to DVD later this year.

Cheers,
Scott.
New looking forward to seeing it - thanks!
New Me too. And I'll be eating popcorn out of the Holy Grail!
That's incredible.

I think it's perfectly clear we're in the wrong band.
(Tori Amos)
New Re: Me three.
I almost can't freakin' wait to get it in my hot little hands!
New I hope they clean it up
And who wants to bet they've got a copy of the original moon landing video?

New You mean the one shot on the 'Saturn Five' set? :-0

I could almost see voting for Palin in 2012 on the grounds that this sorry ratfucking excuse for a republic, this savage, smirking, predatory empire deserves her. Bring on the Rapture, motherfuckers!

New Dumbing-down seems to have been epidemic
in Hollywood.. since its first agglomeration; wonder how they ever imagined anyone would sit through the complete Birth of a Nation.
Yet ... They Did!
suggesting that Hollywood always represented a larger force than any Murican innate-Dumbth, I wot.
(Look what Orson Welles had to go through to keep The Magnificent Ambersons unBowdlerized.)

[. . .]

Paramount Pictures, the American partner brought in toward the end of the shoot, took control of the film and made drastic excisions, arguing that Lang’s cut was too complicated and unwieldy for American audiences to understand.

qed

Give a Heads Up, whoever notices the DVD release date!

New Here's how it went
"They'll never understand it. Remove half the plot."

[time passes]

"See? They didn't understand it. We should have cut more."

New trailer
http://trailers.appl...ndent/metropolis/

The original footage looks much better than the DVD copy I have, which predates the 2001 restoration.

The newly discovered footage is quite obvious due to it's image quality.

Score! - per Kino's website, it'll be released on bluray as well. They'll be available in November.

Theatre dates - what's odd is I don't get a scroll bar. I was able to scroll the list by selecting text and dragging towards the bottom. Sadly no Texas dates.
