There absolutely will be cancellations that wonÂt be canceled otherwise. I donÂt want to sound like weÂre complaining, like some other airlines out there. Fact is, we [the industry] got ourselves in this mess. Fortunately it wasnÂt us [US Airways] but in some of these siutations, maybe weÂre just fortunate.
This has been going on for awhile and weÂve been warned that we needed to get it fixed so shame on us. If you donÂt fix it youÂll get legislation. The legislation is not going to be perfect and there will be unintended consequences, but we just have to deal with it.
He doesn't like the new 3 hour ground rule, but admits that it's the airline companies fault for letting it get so bad that legislation was required to fix the problem. It's nice to see a CEO say something that sensible.
