Nothing I found funny, unless it was satirical and he really loves us dearly. Read straight (which I think is how it was meant) it comes off as failed snark. Badly failed.
But the sentence structure is of reasonable complexity and free of obvious errors. The paragraphs flow adequately.
Unlike his old stuff, this looks like it was badly written by a high school graduate who passed English legitimately.
Best guess: he ran it past a literate editor. That he was able to accept enough criticism to make this work speaks to much improvement in psychological state. The content, on the other hand...
