I recently got a router and have been debating on tools and/or methods for joining planks into wider boards for some plant stands that I need to build.
There are biscuit jointers that have lots of fans. But the really cheap ones don't have square fences or are difficult to manipulate in bit changes. Even the known brands (Porter-Cable and Dewalt) have complaints and are around $200. For $500+ there are various European tools (Festool, etc.), but they seem to be "systems" that become an investment in themselves. Lots of the brands have complaints about dust cavities clogging, and the idea of an additional vacuum system isn't appealing.
I ended up getting this for my router: CMT Enlock1 - http://www.woodcraft...aspx?prodid=23140 Cheaper than Amazon, free shipping, and inexpensive fasteners. The video seems to show that it's quite flexible for end joints and for joining boards.
CMT seems to be an Italian company.
Cheers,
Scott.
