Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Here I was developing Frog food recipes . . .
. . but I had to take time out this evening for Irish.

It's not every day you can get your hands on stinging nettles in Los Angeles. They don't grow in the Los Angeles River, and if they did, and you were gathering them, you'd probably be arrested on suspicion of doing something suspicious.

I have no evidence the Frogs cook nettles, so Irish it is - http://www.clovegard.../bov_nettle1.html

And talk about deja-vu - I haven't been stung by nettles since childhood.

New But but but...
Don't you use Stinging Nettles for treatment of hay-fever and other allergies?

My Dutch Grandmother did. Anytime she would get hay-fever... or some pollen irritation she would either make some Nettle tea or make a salve out of the juice.
New Yes, they're also used to stimulate hair growth.
New Heh.. last year had a try-out
Neighbor pointed out something like that in his shrubbery (I now forget what the sucker looked like.)
I thought.. [OK I Didn't 'think' much ...] Hmm.. do they Really sting?

So I touched it.
Mildly er, astringent? I thought. At first.
Later, not so mild. OK the name is Earned. Now I Know that, too.
(And no, I don't test certain Alkaloids in similar Duhh manner. Or this post would evanesce prior to being.)

I could almost see voting for Palin in 2012 on the grounds that this sorry ratfucking excuse for a republic, this savage, smirking, predatory empire deserves her. Bring on the Rapture, motherfuckers!

New Saw some of those on Salisbury Hill
Where Camelot may have been located.
No ruins, stone castles weren't the thing back then unless you reported directly to Rome. Real Rome (which was not doing much on the British front at the time, being busy with the whole I've Fallen And I can't Get Up thing) not nostalgic ideal Rome, which does not make good on imaginary purchase orders. Arthur would have used a wooden stockade. Surrounded by a really good stand of nettle (over my head tall when I was there, a scant 1500 years later July 22, 1981) it might be quite effective when the latest in armor is blue paint.

Why, yes, I did give up something for lent. I gave up making sense.
New Nettles have a long association with human habitation.
Theyseem to like the changes in the soil people cause. Some long disappeared habitation sites have been identified by a concentration of nettles.
