For the upcoming Music Group, in retaliation for the annual March overdose of JS BACH, I specified it would feature works by J. OffenBACH.
Not unexpectedly, the massive Music Group library proved to have just about nothing by Offenbach - so I ordered in 3-1/2 hours of Offenbach and Bonnie is going to buy Tales of Hoffman. That'll get us through the evening.
One of the CDs came in today. It's solid black and the top surface is patterned and labeled to look just like a vinyl LP - grooves and all. I didn't know they could do that.
Incidentally, aside from Hoffman and the 100 some operettas and farces Offenbach is famous for, he was a virtuoso cellist, and wrote concertos for cello and orchestra and works for two and four cellos. These are very fine and well worth repeated listenings.
