New Microsoft responds
http://blogs.technet...broad-impact.aspx

Of the response, Gruber notes: http://daringfirebal...0/02/04/microsoft
Why in the world did they respond to this? And even worse, without refuting any of his claims, most especially his core premise that Microsoft is divided into dozens of bureaucratic fiefdoms that fight against each other to protect their turf?
New Expands to a cornucopia.. back to Alan Kay
via a link at Gruber's re the iPad. There just may be Something to this ... hypertext, is it?

Thanks for the sleuthing. The M$ rebuttal, so obviously done on that fuzzy-scale.. where PR lives, naturally could not even hint of the internecine fiefdom skirmishes -- till the forest come to Dunsinane. So yeah, why bother to 'rebut', one seconds.. Gawd they must have buried a Ton of talent in those corner offices, with the insanely-great ideas spawned - shelved. (Why not make buildings as dodecagons - More corner offices?)

iPad stuff:

Love the concise/disciplined speculations on parentage. Beyond the mere nomenclature of er, iPhone OS and between-the-lines of these respondents -- obviously ept also long students of Apple etiology and its umm ... strategic-algorithm? -- we can infer how deucedly-Smart Jobs et al really are.

They must possess a unique grasp of -- and mine, constantly -- the socio- psycho- mindsets of the masses who flock to the Candy Store for a fix.. even when bereft of spendable cash.
When in the local one with a friend whose 17" laptop had a stuck DVD (1st Gen- model now long-in-tooth), I studied the occupants, while playing with the iPhone, seeing how intuitively the layout functioned. Truly a mondo-Toy for frenetic times and perennially multitasking grey cells.

(After getting Ap Store's estimate of >$600 to remove a stuck DVD in a friend's Powerbook, mayhap replace Superdrive, I steered her to a place a few blocks away: aftermarket drive, labor ... think it was ~$175ish. ) Champagne tastes / beer income. {sigh}
Will cheerily settle for this bitchin iMac for n years, world's biggest notebook -- thankyouverymuch, Steverino!
