Let me be the first to say...
Merry Christmas!
Of course, I'm "early" because it's 10pm Christmas Eve, local time. But at least you lot have half a chance of seeing this on your Christmas Eve. I'm not expecting much traffic here on the actual Christmas Day...

We're expecting rain ... wanna trade?
After all, you're the one in England. Isn't a cold, rainy Christmas pretty traditional for you?

Rain has been canceled here.
The wind blew it all away. Rain wasn't expected in Los Angeles until Sunday anyway. but today everything is clear, bright and sunny. They say it'll be 66°F but I think it'll be warmer.

We *have* rain...
Christmas Eve was warm and humid, but a bit mild for Sydney. Christmas Day was cooler and in the afternoon the heavens opened. :-/
When I was a kid, Christmas usually meant a very hot day.

I'm in for a unique one
I'll be going to Christmas Mass this evening.
My daughter will be cantoring during collection.
Get that kid singing and the tears and the money just flow.

Standard time
I was hanging out in the vestibule.
You could hear very well in it, good sound system and the church was packed.
The usher asked if I wanted to come in.
I said no, I just wanted to listen when my daughter starts singing.
Him: She's in the choir?
Me: Not exactly. (She was invited back as a guest singer, she's not part of the school anymore. But no reason to tell him).
Him: My daughter is in the the choir.
Me: (smile and nod)
Random passerby: My niece is in the choir.
Me: (Smile and nod. There is a reason she's invited back to sing, most of the current people are terrible).
She starts to sing. There is another voice as well, but not nearly as strong. She was given the spot in front of the mike, and the other person isn't near it.
The usher's eyes glaze over, he gets a faraway look, and says "Oh my god, is that your kid?"
Me: Yup.
Everyone stops talking and listens and then makes the appropriate holy shit you must be proud noises.
Me: Yup.

Merry (hic!) Chisssmss
There are advantages to living across the street from your in-laws. Like, you don't have to worry about a designated driver after Christmas Eve dinner. Woo!
Just put the kids down ... need to give them a half-hour to fall asleep, then head up to the attic.
