New here or science? ethics and science
"If problems like this arise even with normal cosmetic surgery cases, what will happen with the radical kind proposed by Rosen? Could any doctor operate to give somebody a tail or wings without being open to the accusation that they, too, were taking advantage of unstable or irresponsible patients?"

thanx,

New Mmmmmm, anime.
I know a couple women who would go the cat/girl cross popular in some anime.

This could be most amusing.
New Why not?
It sure beats the tattoos or dying their hair? They could also get pointy ears to look like a Vulcan or Elf.

If they get wings, will they be able to fly, or at least flap them? Or will it be something else that is unable to move? Where do they get these things, do they just make them or take them off some animal?

How about a man wanting two sets of family jewels?

Or how about someone who wants a Zaphod, that is an extra arm and an extra head?

I recall from Ripley's that a man had horns put into his head, to look different? Or maybe it was metal beads or something?

I am free now, to choose my own destiny.
New They sure know how to make it sound appetising...
The wings were described in the article as "their new hanging, boned flaps of flesh".

Ew! Doesn't that make you just wanna rush out and get some? :)

And what's so bad about hair-dye? Been there, done that. At least it's easy to revert to a natural state should you change your mind (Been there, done that, too :) . Much easier than removing a tattoo.

Anyway, have a good read of the article - it answers almost all your questions.

On and on and on and on,
and on and on and on goes John.
New Tattoo check!
I have two.

Anyone else?
New trying to quit (no)

New None here, sorry.

New Re: Tattoo check!
None. My body is a temple, unsullied by desecrations such as tattoos and piercings.

I make sacrifices of beer and dodgy pseudo-mediterranean food weekly.

New It depends
if it is just boned flapps of flesh and not the "Angel wings" that many want to get, it might not be worth it?

Hair-dye, nothing wrong with it, but some people use hair-dye. I've seen red, blue, green, purple, and pink hair-dye used before. It is their body and they can do with it what they want. My hair stays its natural color.

New Punctuation Police Patrol. Pull it over buddy!
You have been observed repeatedly, incessently using the question mark in an unsafe and unnecessary manner. Punishment in Silverlockland is swift and sure. No question marks for you! You are sentenced to writing without question marks for 5 days or until I get tired of the joke. Whichever comes first.

That is all.
With this much manure around, there must be a pony somewhere.
New Appellate court split: 5 days or hung upside down with a \ufffd
New I often wonder
if those WWW (Weekly World News) stores were real or not, imagine how many of them will be "Cat girl found living in Kansas" and she was an anime fan who had plastic surgery? Maybe we will get a few more "Bat boys", "Bigfoots", "Alien Elvises", and maybe Johnny Walker can be punished by making him a real "Rat boy"? :)

"Will work for fair salary and benefits, seeking company with integrity."
New For some reason...
... I'm reminded of Evangelion...

I've got some speculative fiction somewhere on one of my shelves about what might happen if scientists figure out how to do this genetically. The temptation to create what currently only exists in mythology and fantasy would be irrestible.

That said, I think the article plays up the grotesque. I think the subtle would sell well, too. Someone mentioned elven ears; I'd find fur interesting.

Wade.
