Re: It's snowing in Houston right now
http://www.chron.com...itan/6750042.html
Houston this morning broke a record with the earliest snowfall ever recorded in the city's history.
Channel 11 also mentioned this is the 35th time in 100 years we've gotten snow. So between the record and the rarity, it is sensational :-)
and it's not just the local channels - the weather channel devoted a lot of coverage to it, along with us having snow before a lot of other places that normally would have had some by now.

How much do you have?
Out here I'm guessing that we've had ONE TENTH of a inch cumulative so far today. Or as we from up north call it "What's the big deal?"
"Chicago to my mind was the only place to be. ... I above all liked the city because it was filled with people all a-bustle, and the clatter of hooves and carriages, and with delivery wagons and drays and peddlers and the boom and clank of freight trains. And when those black clouds came sailing in from the west, pouring thunderstorms upon us so that you couldn't hear the cries or curses of humankind, I liked that best of all. Chicago could stand up to the worst God had to offer. I understood why it was built--a place for trade, of course, with railroads and ships and so on, but mostly to give all of us a magnitude of defiance that is not provided by one house on the plains. And the plains is where those storms come from."

that is hardly anything
Just stuck a ruler in it, there's still 2" on the ground. The accumulation was thicker around noon, but I didn't measure it then.
The snow started falling before 9 am and as of 4 pm it hasn't stopped. Just checked the radar and it looks like it'll be done in the next 30 minutes.
You should be able to see these photos on Facebook, even w/out an account. The 1st photo was taken at 9:00, the other 4 at 9:40.

Re: that is hardly anything
Finally got "Little Poop Eater" to go out back to take a leak. While there I measured what stuck on a supporting 2x4 on my fence: 1/4 inch.
Remember, you are a lot closer to the Gulf that I am, so you're more vulnerable to moisture in the weather patterns.

Re: that is hardly anything
Your Facebook pictures do not support your allegation of 2 inches of snow on the ground. Maybe you need a new ruler.
I've got an accurate one that I bought in Chicago - want to borrow it? ;-)

Re: Really?
Dude - get real. First off, your pictures look identical, and secondly, your yard and table are almost perfectly clean. Where's the 4 inches?
This is what 4 inches of snow looks like: http://www.flickr.co...dtmmm/3247373168/

Spice needs to fix the link then, sorry.
It was a good amount of snow accumulation for 40 minutes. Just not 2 inches.

Re: Spice needs to fix the link then, sorry.
Those photos were taken at 9:00 and 9:40. The heaviest accumulation was in the early afternoon, but I didn't measure until 4 pm, at which time it had melted quite a bit as the ground was warm.
I guess I should have taken more photos as my words are apparently worthless...

At least the Houston Chronicle has a sense of humor
Take that, Chicago
For what it's worth, Houston's seasonal total of snowfall this winter now exceeds that of Chicago, which has had just a trace so far. There's a pretty good chance Houston will not lead that race for long, as the city averages one snowfall about every four years.

I leave it up to the experts
meaning those people who live in Michigan, Illinois, Colorado, and other states that get snow every year. I'll let them go through the links to various slide shows to look for themselves, since my passing a recent milestone birthday must mean that I need glasses with lenses as thick as Coke bottles to see the accumulation claimed by all of the meteorologists on the local television, radio and newspapers.

you can be a real ass at times...
The link to the 2nd photo has been fixed. I did post a link to the photo album in # 21281. Just checked it in FireFox, where I'm not logged into facebook, so you should have been able to see those photos just fine via that post.
In regards to 4 inches, I never said how much was there during the heaviest accumulation as I didn't measure it, I just knew it was more than the 2 inches I measured at 4 pm. I'd have taken a picture then if I'd known you were going to be such a dick about it.
http://www.chron.com...p/tx/6753784.html
Accumulations of 3 to 4 inches of snow were reported in counties southwest of Houston. I live in Fort Bend county, which is southwest of Houston.

Thanks. We've got about 1/2" of slush.
A web camera that's a mile or so from here: http://www.wundergro...ker37/1/show.html
It's been precipitating all day - fortunately, it's been too warm to stick.
Cheers,
Scott.

No slush here . . .
. . but the temperatures are down in the mid 60's and scheduled to fall to the low 60's. Sunday and Monday showers are scheduled, then rain on Wendsday.
Did a little roof work today - hopefully it will be water tight. New roof scheduled for next summer.

We're about to break it in the other direction
3 more days without white stuff in Burlington will do it. Going by the forecasts, that should not be a problem. It is downright balmy here.
