Newegg pre-Black Friday deals
http://www.fudzilla....ent/view/16525/1/
Newegg, the worldÂs second largest etail store on the internet next to Amazon, has just begun its annual Pre-Black Friday special promotion sale and one which we expect to see several great deals emerge on the companyÂs site.
On November 22, 2009 at around 3pm PST, the Newegg Facebook page was updated to include several early preview listings of what we could expect during its Pre-Black Friday promotion. The sale officially began on November 23, 2009 at 12:01am PST.
Among the more distinguishable products include a Seagate Expansion 2TB USB 2.0 external hard drive for $149.99 with free shipping, an LG Network Blu-ray Disc Player BD370 with 7.1 channel audio and 1080p output for $129.95 with free shipping, a Creative Fatal1ty Gaming USB Headset for $34.99 with free shipping, a Microsoft SideWinder X5 mouse for $24.99 with free shipping, and a Sparkle Geforce 8400 GS 512MB for $19.99 with free shipping.
If youÂre looking for a deal on any of these products, it is best to act now before they are completely sold out. The link to NeweggÂs Pre-Black Friday Special Promotion can be found here. Rest assured, there will be much better deals to emerge on the site in just two days time.
[...]
(Emphasis added.) That must be why their prices aren't as good as they were a few years ago.
Cheers,
Scott.

Re: Newegg pre-Black Friday deals
Yes, the prices have seemed to be not as good as before.
I've also noticed that items that sell like hot-cakes in a lumberjack camp...
Like some of the cooling fans I used to buy, where you could actually buy 10 for less total cost (including shipping) than 6 fans. Now they don't do the "bulk" qty thingers much anymore.
I do see that they have also cut back on the variety of things... and no longer carry "add-ons" for most motherboards (like ADO cards or PCI risers... etc)

If you need some of those fans
I still have about a half dozen I think.
I will choose a path that's clear. I will choose freewill.

No...
I bought a full box of 100 a few years back, I still have about 10 left.
I was able to buy that full box for like $135 shipped. It was an awesome deal. Dual ball bearing, variable speed thermally controlled by a thermistor... way better than the cheap stuff in the similar price range now a day.
The stuff they have now is "manually controlled by a switch" and loud as all get out.

If anyone sees laptop deals, let me know
I'm looking for super-cheap, like <$300. I figure if they're going to treat them like cell phones -- disposable, non-upgradable things that you trade in every two years -- that's how I'll treat them, too.

Best Buy
has an Acer for about 350...best I've seen before it drops to net-books. May drop to 300 during shopping season.
I will choose a path that's clear. I will choose freewill.

Peter had some not-nice things to say about Acer
I've just got mine to go by, which lasted about 2 years. How's their quality overall?

Some of it is crap.
Not sure they're actually following Sturgeon's law, but you do have to be careful with them.
