I will choose a path that's clear. I will choose freewill.
New Sad...
but there is a HUGE glimmer of truth in those.
New My thought exactly
funny in a very sad sort of way.

Goodbye freedom. Hello, mom!
New one of those...
Is the reason I no longer volunteer on outings for the Kids at School or Church.

We had to many "false accusations" or people Jumping to conclusions about intent.

Even established well known Men around her have been put in jail on falsehoods.

This whole PANIC thing from 9/11 and perpetuated by the DHS/ATF/Gov't police forces in general is making these things die.

Big Brothers and Big Sisters are very much dieing because of this.

Sorry to take the fun out of this.
New #5
My first 2 years of high school, 80-82, was in McHenry, Illinois. If your parents signed a permission slip your ID had something on it that let you use the smoking area. In the winter the heater was so hot we'd often wear shorts(with snowpants to/from school).

In contrast - my last 2 years were in Portland, Texas. They had security guards and all the restrooms were locked except for the pair by the main office. In spite of the heat, I got in trouble for wearing shorts on my first day (as well as for having a mustache).

My high school was officially no smoking. But the bathrooms always smelled like smoke and it was a running joke that the principle ran the smoking students out because he wanted some privacy when he smoked.

Jay
New we had a smoking club, I refused to join
hung out with my buds while an assistant pricipal would skulk on the roof with binoculars trying to catch us
New My highschool
was a 2 class alternative school.
My teacher smoked, and took the whole class out on smoke breaks every 45 minutes.
New Explains... MUCH!
New Memoriiiieeesssssss
Nah, not for you.

But I was contacted by an old classmate from that school.

She, and another friend, lived with me for a while. Ahh, wild times.

They ended up getting married, and divorced about 2 years ago.

They both kicked off a facebook request to me within minutes of each other. It was a race!

3 weeks of email and phone tag, I'll be visiting her this weekend. Was doing the same to the ex-husband, but he had some very odd gaps in his email timing.

Turned out he was in jail for a while, she sent him there. Nothing violent, he just doesn't believe in paying child support, and then does silly crap like pull flowers from the yard he no longer owns.

Ahh, ain't alcohol grand?

Anyway, I expect there will be a bit of memory lane time. I should record the conversation (with permission of course). I've done that with an old girlfriend. It's amazing what you end up recording.

That book might pop out of me yet.
New We need a 1982 version.
Lessee...

Scenario 1: Principal confiscates gun. At the end of the day, he returns it and asks Jack to not bring it to school. Jack agrees and drops gun off at home before school the next time he goes early morning quail hunting.

Scenario 2: Crowd gathers, teachers descend. Mark and Johnny both get detentions, probably just as the fight concludes.

Scenario 3: ... (not sure how to script that one...)

Scenario 4: Billy has to forfeit his pocket money until the window is more-or-less paid for. Billy grows up normal learning that money can fix things, but sometimes that means going without.

Scenario 5: Mark takes his aspirin with his lunch milk. Fellow students say he shouldn't show the teacher, but it would probably be alright. One of the friendlier teacher casually quizzes him that it's really only aspirin.

Scenario 6: ... (again, not sure how to script this one...)

Scenario 7: ... well, ants still die, but the problem I have scripting this one is that the firecracker laws changed so much in Au in the '70s.

Scenario 8: The 1955 scenario would probably still apply here. :-)

Wade.

Q:Is it proper to eat cheeseburgers with your fingers?
A:No, the fingers should be eaten separately.
New 3 & 6
3: Jeffrey spends more time in detention than he does in class. The principal keeps his fingers crossed that Jeffrey doesn't break anything important before his 18th birthday, when he officially becomes someone else's problem.

6: Pedro goes to summer school, and gets a job as a dishwasher at night. By the fall, he's got enough money saved up to pay a coyote to bring his parents up. All three of them get jobs at the slaughterhouse. Pedro never finishes school.
