New Could someone please help me with time zone conversion?
They are going to take their Yahoo group sites down today for maintenance, and
I don't understand the times they are giving. Can someone please translate what
"between 2 and 3 pm PDT (10-11 pm GMT) and last for up to an hour" means?

Is it maybe 2-3 p.m. Pacific Time maybe? How does that translate to Central Standard? And I know what GMT is, it's Greenwich Mt time, but I don't know how to translate that either. I only know how to translate Eastern Time into Central Time I subtract one hour.

Thanks,

Brenda

New Re: Could someone please help me with time zone conversion?
PST is GMT -8 hours.
CST is GMT -6 hours

Easiest: take the PDT and add 2 hours.
New Okay, please tell me if this is right...
Using the formula you gave me here:

Easiest: take the PDT and add 2 hours.

The outage will start at between 4 and 5 pm CDT

That means I have another hour if I'm right.

Thanks!

Brenda

New Sounds good to me.
New Thanks, was able to warn my groups in time.

New Google knows all.
Another way to get answers to questions like this is enter it as a question in Google. If you do a Google search for "current time in Los Angeles" it returns as its first answer:

1:33pm Thursday (PDT) - Time in Los Angeles, California

If you do a Google search for "current time in St. Louis" it returns:

3:34pm Thursday (CDT) - Time in St. Louis, Missouri

So, PDT is 2 hours behind CDT. Thus, 2-3pm PDT is noon-1pm in St. Louis. If you're not on Daylight Saving Time, then move the time back one hour (11-noon).

HTH.

Cheers,
Scott.
New I know, but...
my hand is really hurting today and I was in a hurry to warn my groups, so doing a search with the mouse is a lot harder than just typing.

Thanks for the info though, Scott, I appreciate it. Didn't know I could put sentence fragments into Google, just words.
