Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Except, at least on mine: pull-ups remain too, so ... well..
The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.

New On mine, they're flush with the door.
Lots of newer cars have the buttons drop down to the top of the door panel. E.g.

http://www.gruvenpar...iles/image018.jpg

(that's with the door unlocked).

Of course, pulling on the door handle will unlock them. Unless you're in the back seat of a car with child-proof locks that are enabled...

Yeah, she should have known, but it's not that big a deal IMO. And she was quite polite considering the stress she was under.

Cheers,
Scott.
New S'true; mine also
So if a panicked person couldn't read the LOCK/UNLOCK switch nearby, their handy tiny Swiss Army knife cum scissors - could pry the sucker up. Surely every adult carries one of those, 'cept on airplanes and inside other types of asylum.

But yeah too, the lady had a medical-stress condition, not dumbth-attack -- I gather.
New midwest accent in kissimee fla must have been rat poison
New So much for that myth of Suth'n Hospitality, eh?
If'n y'all don't do yer minstrel-talk jes laak Al Jolson, then they go all

E Pluribus POAD, and won't let you stay in that there Roach Motel, sit around the Crackers-barrel achattin 'bout the uppity darkies. Pity.

New maybe poking fun at disney tourists?
sheesh she must have burned you bad,

southern girls can be so pretty
got yer wallet yer car yer money for her kitty
left you with that unique burning sensation
and an inalienable dislike of the southern nation

:-)
New Oh.. well, that would be OK

New On opening with the handle...
My car has an odd behavior: if the door is locked, the first time you pull on the handle nothing happens. You have to pull on it twice.

Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New "Are you really sure you want to open the door? Y/N" :-/
New The first pull pops the lock
But it feels different, and I could see how it could confuse someone if they weren't paying attention.

Welcome to Rivendell, Mr. Anderson.
New But it has good fall-back behaviour.
To wit: if they panic and start pulling and pulling.... hey, whaddyaknow - it's open now... :-)

Wade.

"Ah -- I take it the doorbell doesn't work?"
New Any relatively recent car over here does that.
From my 10-year-old BMW to the brand-spanky-new hire cars I get, they all do the same thing.

I think my old Nissan did it, too, and that would be 20 years old.
New Seems there's no standard
Wasn't sure re mine responded to repeated pulls, so tried it: (I'd instinctively reach for the switch next to door-pull)
Nope, pull n+1 times and no-go;
'course the large-lettered LOCK/UNLOCK switch is ... about 1 cm in front of the regular pull-lever.

(Now if the battery had been stolen while you were away.. and you locked self in, for whatever reason)
That UNLOCK switch'd be dead as a doornail.
-- on my '94, you'd need to pry up the flush lock/unlock plungers on window sill; long fingernails? maybe..
New Security system
I accidentally triggered the security system on my Toyota Sienna. I think I unlocked manually using the switch on the door after locking by clicking the remote, which is a no-no.

Flashing lights and horn, and all the doors kept locking every time the horn went off.

I had to turn the key in the ignition to get out, although I think somebody with faster hands could have flipped the door lock and opened the door before it locked again.
