New Onyx uses the "V" word
Actually, two words, "Legitimizes" and "Validates" have about equal standing here. Example: "IBM's entrance into the market has legitimized the personal computer and we expect it to have a positive impact on our buiness".

Yeah, a positive impact such as the impact a ton of bricks dropped from great height has.

Onyx Software in a statement Tuesday said that it believes Microsoft's move will "have little or no impact on Onyx, its market position, or its existing partnership with Microsoft," given the focus of Microsoft CRM on smaller companies. But Microsoft's announcement "does represent validation of the overall CRM industry and the market opportunity it represents across all segments". (emphasis mine)

New Oh, THAT Onyx.
For a moment there, I thought you meant [link|http://www.onyx.net/|this] Onyx. I was just about to ring up my mate Kev and see what it was all about :)

New Ah yes
They have entered the denial stage.

This is followed by the fighting stage, where the target does everything it can to fight back. In rare cases a company may manage to hold MS off. But it is more common that bungling and errors inflicted by companies in this stage on their customers make it easier for MS.

Then comes the acceptance stage, where the companies with big client bases sell out their client base to MS in exchange for exit money.

Then comes the coma stage, where a handfull of small companies survive in the gaps of the MS overlordship.
