People are addressing issues to Obama, and involving him in negotiations. Other countries are posturing to Obama, not Bush. Some of this is just setting the tone for Obama's presidency, but there is more actual involvement and dealing with Obama then I can recall for any previous president. Jay

This evidenced by his opting out of the upcoming Econ confab, which he could attend - but won't. We can see the +/-s there. Credibility? Bush's?? Now as to Shrub's motives in being nice ... we gets no data. (Off hand though, I can easily imagine that he wishes he Could just hand this rotting-potato over on Friday, grab a chainsaw and head for Crawford and some therapeutic bush, er brush cutting.) 'Member that rocket pilot, mentioned in Slaughterhouse Five, "who accidentally hit the wrong button and destroyed the Universe" ... ? Maybe Shrub would have to take a drink, again; make it 4 or 5 of those -- for it-all to finally sink in. Just a WAG.

Re: "scuttlebutt"... there isn't an Aussie term with the same connotations. The closest is "furphy" but that really means a false or misleading story that originated in rumour. Wade

I merely suppose.. that a study of the typ. 'dry-drunk' mindset suggests the voluminous means by which such a person hides from himself ... the consequences of 'gut-level' decisions piled atop previous. {ugh} I'd imagine, therefore -- the poor bastard would Love to cut & run (precisely opposite to his constructed public persona) ie. I 'Know' NOTHING about the manifestly sorry-state of his jelloware. Supposition is all we ever get. As re. most every public figure(-head.) :-(
Post #299,753 by mhuber 11/14/08 9:13:04 PM Reply	If I were in his place particularly as it looks like his handlers have had him pretty much in a box the last few months, I'd just want to be out of there ASAP. I don't think he has anything left that he really wants to accomplish. And in recent pictures, he looks just dog-tired. The whole massage therapy thing is forcing me to be compassionate even when the person involved is vicious. My object of compassion is the organism, not the political entity. And that organism looks like it is suffering. It should be released back to its environment. Connecticut, if I recall correctly. No need to maintain the Texas farce anymore.
