John Podesta says a president can use such orders to move quickly without waiting for Congress and it highlights the extraordinary powers a president can wield.
Yes, Virginia, there really is an Obama Claus. You can hear him shouting, "On Pelosi, on Reid, on Kennedy, on Biden. Cash away, cash away, cash away all!"
"... looking to reverse some of President Bush's executive orders ..."
I didn't see anything in the suggesting an intent to initiate any new activities via presidential fiat.
As a matter of fact, I'd like to see him undo *every* signing statement Bush made. If Congress passed the law, either sign it or veto it. Signing it with an asterisk that says, "* But we won't enforce it" is complete bullshit.
So far, we have Podesta giving a civics lesson on what an executive order is and why they can be useful, and talking about maybe reversing some of W's.
I expect to be objecting to Obama's policies by about noon on January 21, but this isn't scary. This isn't, um, anything.
Thinking about reversing a few of an unpopular President's more obnoxious executive orders is more "well DUH" than "bwaghahahaha".
