New arkitecting oracle and schtuff
looking at some consolidation of oracle databases. The problem is upgrading oracle. The system needs to be offline during an upgrade okay for one 150gb database but long time for a terabyte database. What is the IGM thoughts on this?
if lemmy and god had a wrestling match who would win?
New Re: arkitecting oracle and schtuff
I'd enable replication and dump from the slave...

Then pull in changes since...

etc.
New RAC or normal?

New havnt decided
RAC means it all comes down in an upgrade, normal means I can upgrade in place then go offline and shift the data over. Unless I am confused.
thanx,
bill

For rolling and online patches on RAC, you don't have to down the whole cluster at all.
