If you read Tuesday Morning Quarterback (TMQ) on ESPN.com, you'll be familiar with Easterbrook's "campaigning" against coaches doing stupid things to make the score look "respectable" instead of doing all they can to win. Case in point, over the last couple of weeks, some team was down 31-0 and kicked a field goal in the 4th quarter to make the eventual final score 31-3. Coach can say that he didn't get shut out, but big friggin' deal.
If McCain is returning his campaign to the "red states", then he's doing the exact same thing. He knows the game is lost, and now he's just trying to make the final score respectable.
