Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Update Manager Mystery
I keep getting in a loop that is driving me nucking futs!

The Windows Update Manager wants to do it's voodoo, but I get a message that "the feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disk that is not available. Insert the Update Manager disk and click OK"

Well, I don't what the hell it's talking about...so I click cancel.

Then I get an error message..."Error 1706 No valid source could be found for product Update Manager. The Windows Installer cannot continue."

I have no idea why now all of a sudden I'm getting this crap. I haven't run my cleanup stuff in a few days, so I've started that. Hope I haven't downloaded a cootie :-(.

TIA for the feedback.
Smile,
Amy
New Maybe this will help.
Looking for [link|http://support.microsoft.com/search/default.aspx?query=error+1706&x=0&y=0&catalog=LCID%3D1033&spid=&qryWt=&mode=r&cus=False|Error 1706] in MS's KnowledgeBase turns up several hits. The [link|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/299803/en-us|2nd one] looks like a pretty good fit. Try the "MEDIAPACKAGEPATH" thingy - somehow. Maybe that'll help.

I'm sorry this is rather obscure. All I know about this is what I've been able to Google. Good luck!

Cheers,
Scott.
