It rather mangles the underlying material to fit into a single short story, but if you can overlook that is is OK.

The animation is great, in much of the movie it really looks real and most of the time the only thing that looks out of place is the lack of flaws on peoples skin. There where only a few times when I thought something looked fake. The voice acting is adequate, and the integration of the real actors into the animated ones is perfect.

The story in the movie casts Beowulf as a flawed human hero, which puts it a step ahead of most Hollywood tripe even if it really is a change from the heroic epic Beowulf. But there are still some inexplicable parts to the plot and the mix of mundane heroics and totally over the top stuff feels odd in places.

Overall, it falls into the 3.5 star category, fun to watch but you won't remember it a year from now.
