One of the new guest started giggling and walked toward the powder room--I quickly grabbed her by the arm and asked her what her problem was. She thought I was playing around. I had to tell her, I was dead serious! I poitned her to the nearest gas station and gave her the keys to my car. If she can't hold it--she's got two options 1) cut her visit short and head home or 2) squat outside behind the bushes!

Andrew and I spend a lot of time in the play room. Throwing balls around--climbing--making nose--stacking blocks and reading books. My husband has made me vow to read him at least one book every day.

I ain't gonna lie--that's new to me! We were NEVER read books as chil'len. Nobody read us nothing. My grandmother and my momma and my aunties would park us in front of the television to watch everything from Sesame Street to The Young and The Restless. It didn't much matter to them--long as we were quiet and didn't say much to disturb them while they were on the phone with their friends or sitting on the porch smoking cigarettes.

But white folks been doing that with their kids--Asians especially. They don't just do it during the school year--it's all year long--it's a way of life!
