It's a very modern mini-opera written specifically for a period instrument orchestra, Philharmonia Baroque. OK, so they're not that Baroque anymore as they've bulked up to play Beethoven symphonies (on period instruments, of course) - and they handle this modern stuff like nobody's business.

At KUSC they claim we live in a golden age of classical music - and I have to agree. The quantity and quality of material and artists is absolutely stunning compared to what there was when I was introduced to this stuff in the '60s - unprecidented.
