CARACAS, Aug 15 (Reuters) - Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez will present a package of constitutional reforms on Wednesday to end presidential term limits, curb central bank autonomy and consolidate his self-styled socialist revolution.

The leftist former paratrooper, in open confrontation with the United States, has steadily increased his hold over the OPEC nation following a nationalization drive that pushed out two of the world's biggest energy companies.

Chavez is scheduled to appear on Wednesday evening before the nation's Congress, which is 100 percent controlled by his supporters, to propose changes to the constitution he helped rewrite in 1999 after his landslide election a year earlier.
