And I thank all for their replies. Centurytel has a special version of the Westell modem. Westell won't provide support, says to call Centurytel. Centurytel uses google to see if they can find an answer to my question!

But I do have another question.

I shut down my Windoze box every night. My server is running RH 9. Recently I changed my windows password, went to the server and changed my password there (passwd and smbpasswd). Now, about every other day, the server has "forgotten" my password. I have to switch (kvm in place) to the server and redo passwd for my windoze machine to gain access.

What's wrong?

only used as a file server for 3 computers. Always has worked, why change/upgrade? Now if it was visible on the internet I'd be worried about security.

So what's it gonna take to move to Ubunutu? iow how much work...
