A lot of LUGs are not much more than
Newbie Linux Users, leading even more Newbie Linux users.
which leads to A LOT of bad habits and misconceptions and down right bad practices.
I've tried to give a couple of talks to a local LUG, but nobody wants see past VNC, DVD-Ripping and managing their music collection.
All under the age of 24.
I've given talks on doing the X forwarding of ssh, establishing an ssh tunnel over port 80 or 443 to get around restrictions. Quickly setting up a "multiple user" or Multiple vhost blog server. Just to name a few.
None of the "kids" want to know any of this.

The word 'jailbait' comes to mind...
Is it enough to love Is it enough to breathe Somebody rip my heart out And leave me here to bleed
| | Is it enough to die Somebody save my life I'd rather be Anything but Ordinary Please

Not familiar with the term LUG
Is a Lesbian Until Graduation a female student who claims she's a lesbian to curtail unwanted advances from undesirable men?
Matthew Greet
Choose Life. Choose a job. Choose a career. Choose a family. Choose a fucking big television, choose washing machines, cars, compact disc players and electrical tin openers. Choose good health, low cholesterol, and dental insurance. Choose fixed interest mortgage repayments. Choose a starter home. Choose your friends. Choose leisurewear and matching luggage. Choose DIY and wondering who the fuck you are on a Sunday morning. Choose sitting on that couch watching mind-numbing, spirit-crushing game shows, stuffing fucking junk food into your mouth. Choose rotting away at the end of it all, pishing your last in a miserable home, nothing more than an embarrassment to the selfish, fucked up brats you spawned to replace yourself. Choose your future. Choose life... But why would I want to do a thing like that? I chose not to choose life. I chose somethin' else. And the reasons? There are no reasons. Who needs reasons when you've got heroin? - Mark Renton, Trainspotting.

apparently not, from the usual suspect source
LGBT reaction [link|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lesbian_until_graduation|http://en.wikipedia...._until_graduation] Bisexual advocates claim that the term is evidence of biphobia or bisexual erasure, and that many women described as LUGs may identify as bisexual.[1] Some LGBT advocates suggest that the appearance of the term is evidence that human sexuality is more mutable (as in the case of sexual preference) than it is fixed (as in the case of sexual orientation). They argue that the term is often used to disparage bi-curious and questioning youth who are exploring their sexual identity.
Advocates suggest that of women who engage in same-sex activity for a limited time period, some may be lesbians who become fully closeted, some may be bisexuals who subsequently suppress that part of their identity, and some may be experimenting. Advocates argue that these distinctions are irrelevant, and that the label is harmful regardless of to whom it is applied. Advocates state that societal acceptance and affirmation of same-sex attraction as legitimate would mitigate the pressure to abandon a lesbian or bisexual orientation for heterosexuality after graduation from college. Advocates state further that such acceptance would create an atmosphere where questioning one's sexual identity would be a legitimate experience, where the pressure to choose a definitive label would be relieved, and where questioning individuals would not be ridiculed or vilified for exploring, regardless of the outcome. thanx, bill
