New Listen to this
I was out in the field today and went to the home of a middle aged woman who suffers from seizures, hallucinations and substance abuse. She was confused and her thought process was very impaired. She is also dirt poor. I almost cried talking to her. How this poor woman manages to survive is beyond me. I'll help her by getting some services in place, but what I can offer pales in comparison to what she needs. When she hears voices she goes into her bedroom and colors velvet posters with magic markers. She calls it her art. When I left she asked me which posters I liked the best. When I told her, she gave me two of them. Her precious art. This woman has nothing, yet she shared what she had in a gesture of friendship. Amazing.
New she seems saner than most
sharing what little she has. Coping sort of outside the borg.
thanx,
bill

New Very nice. I'm sure you made her day (at minimum). :-)
New Needs?
Dirt poor needs are vastly different from our needs. I spent some time in Africa among the dirt poor. They had shelter, food, and clothing. No electricity, no running water, no windows in homes. But they were among the happiest, friendliest people I've ever met.

She might need a lot, but get her some more velvet and markers and she'd be happy. (Assuming she does have housing, food, and clothing).
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. (Herm Albright)
