I'm surprised NY let you register a vehicle w/o in-state title or be in-process to get one.

I'd go see the Kidney Foundation and after explanation see how the title transfer can be done by mail.

New Yeah, it's possible.
I'm going to leave the truck in NY with a friend (because NY, unlike Louisiana, will allow you to sign over your title without being in the presence of a Notary Public) and then mail it with some paperwork to the Kidney Foundation. Then they'll pick up the truck.

It's just... gah. And much of it was my own doing, along the way... but there wasn't really any way to tell at the time that I was doing it.
