Perhaps requirements to put "country of origin" of ingredients on food packaging would encourage shoppers to be more interested in what they're eating. But it's probably impractical:

This chicken was raised in Delaware, New Jersey, South Carolina, California, Idaho, Mexico, Guatemala, China, Vietnam, Slovakia, and/or the USA with feed from: China, Pakistan, Nigeria, Bolivia, Chile, Canada, Slovenia, Turkmenistan, and/or the USA.
