Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Thanks. Why didn't I think of that?
Not an option
-----------------------------------------
You can fire an at will employee for good cause or no cause, but not bad cause.
New better idea
if that is not an option allow a crucial monitoring box to go dark, when the inevitable happens explain that the screen saver was in place so no monitoring could be done.
thanx,
bill

New Cute. I put together a reghack that takes care of it.
It has to be run on each reboot but it works.

New but that circumvents "THEIR" directive
better to let them understand their folly.

New It's a crap shoot
If they can put into place a policy without having thought through the need for potential exemptions, they probably won't see that it was their folly that caused the problem.
Seamus
New It'll get fixed eventually.
This was meant as added security for the CC processing folks and some bright MBA decided to make it a universal policy. I give it 3 months before it's restricted just to the CC processors.

New Then 1) put it in the post
and 2) train your staff.

Cause I would bet that if you are not allowed to do that after repeated attempts...and you load a hack like this that you are going to be in more trouble than its worth.
