Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Hey man, wedding gigs rock if you can do them
the money is amazing.
New I know
I roadied for a band that did weddings to pay the bills so they could do bar gigs for the fun.

Busiest week was 4 weddings and 3 bar gigs. Lots of setups and teardowns. The band I worked for got pretty popular and started making enough on public gigs that they ended up dropping the weddings.
-----------------------------------------
You can fire an at will employee for good cause or no cause, but not bad cause.
New Well, they pay well, and the conquest/hookup ops are solid
but the material can be a bloody drag.

Consider I did some wedding work in both Detroit (large polish contingent - break out plenty 'o polkas) and Albuquerque (need plenty of spanish/mariachi material - same fucking beat).

The Wedding Singer movie by Sandler - I think I lived it in Detroit.

We posture as apostles of fair play, as good sportsmen, as professional knights-errant-- and we throw beer bottles at the umpire when he refuses to cheat for our side...We save the black-and-tan republics from their native [statesmen]--and flood them with "deserving" democrats of our own. We deafen the world with our whoops for liberty--and submit to laws that destroy our most sacred rights...We play policeman and Sunday-school superintendent to half of Christendom--and lynch a darky every two days in our own backyard.

New Yeah, well, not wedding gigs on the horizon here
we don't have the songlist for it yet. Still, we're picking up stuff pretty quickly, and if we keep up this kind of pace we might be able to do some of those kinds of gigs soon....
New I hope never to hear Celebration ever again.

New Eh? Dull - one note - played as octaves - whole song.
You might as well play tamborine.

New Doesn't have to be complicated to work a crowd.
Just has to have its groove on.

New True, but a better bet: That's What I Like About You
It never ever fails to fill a dance floor or start a party and you'll get to move your left hand a couple times.

There is no surer thing in music.

New Kool & The Gang?
We played that song in Junior High marching band.

One day we're out marching around the roads near the school, practicing, and what comes the other direction but a funeral procession.

While we're playing "Celebration".

And the band director didn't stop us while we marched past.
