My comments on the Borland license issue commented on the fact that Borland's the 3 oz chimp in this arena. Right or wrong, they have to contend with public opinion, and can lose mindshare (the capitulation, while not complete, was fast and drastic).
Microsoft's the 800 pounder. My "negative feedback will help" comment meant "negative feedback to Microsoft and/or in public".
It's going to be interesting to see how/if and/or how quickly such licensing terms are reversed or dropped in the face of public protest. Microsoft's well known for proposing terms (licensing, pricing, features) which would tend to maximise or squeeze monopoly benefits from its products, then back down to the point of tolerable pain (on the part of customers).
Incidentally, this has strong parallels with IBM near the end of its own monopoly tenure.
