New Actually...
My main reason for leaving the article up here was to remind myself to take it into work and hand it to the company lawyer.

XP is nowhere on the horizon for us (heck, we still use NT 4.0), so we aren't so late in the game for complaining about this.

Cheers,
Ben
New My old work
was rushing to Windows 2000 since April of last year (2001) and as of November 2001 they still hadn't finished the Windows 2000/ Office 2000 migration. They wanted to move to Windows XP / Office XP as soon as possible as well.

In April, I told them that it would take a long time, and that while we could get the VB and ASP programs ready, the techs would run into many issues getting the workstations upgraded. They ignored me, as usual and said it would be done by July, August at latest. But the techs kept forgetting to install important system files on the Windows 2000 builds, and of course the managers got upgraded first before the users. When I was let go, the VB and ASP migrations were done, and worked and tested out ok. They had to publish the VB changes to a different directory because only a fraction of the users used Windows 2000 and Office 2000, and the rest still used either Windows NT 4.0 or Windows 95, and programs compiled under Windows 2000 would not work on the earlier operating systems.

Well anyway, I was right, and they are, to my best knowledge, still doing the Windows 2000 and Office 2000 upgrades. Seven months have passed, and it is the same old sh*t, different day according to an ex-coworker of mine. If they had people who knew what the heck they were doing, and they acutally had a decent upgrade plan that wasn't created by management, the migration may have gone smoother. I could have written a better plan in my sleep, as I am sure could have all of you.

The one thing that makes me feel better about myself is to hear that they are struggling without me, and still having the same problems they had before. They are just another Enron waiting to happen, but are a law firm.
