New Vista doesn't like users to delete files.
[link|http://forums.microsoft.com/TechNet/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1358057&SiteID=17|MS TechNet Forums]:

i wish that someone would say something more than referring to programming handles, etc etc etc blah blah blah. a lot of programming to do a simple process is a lame excuse. moving a file should not be such a difficult problem. deleting a file, copying a file or files, etc.... these should be be such difficult processes. the move, copy, delete, cancel functions take way too long. and to be quite honest, a lot of people are getting rid of their brand new pc computers with a brand new preinstalled version of vista on it because of the os problems. compatibility issues, resource issues, etc. it is getting way out of hand. xp was not like this in its opener back in 99-2000.

microsoft has its hands full, and all i keep reading about are programmers using the excuse that the reason my move command locks/stalls is because of A LOT OF PROGRAMMING/PROCESSES THAT ARE COMPUTING. be for real here.

find a solution, or scrap the entire "Calculating time remaining" feature out of the os. this is one of many problems driving people insane. yet, i can honestly say this is one of the biggest.

media center has many a glitch, but please microsoft, work on what is a problem thus far. fix my move feature, my copy feature, my delete feature, and above all else dont lock up if i decide to cancel one of these features because they do not work.

New Re: Vista doesn't like users to delete files.
I did a demo of Vista, it is not ready for prime-time. I had a 30 day demo and I found a lot of compatibility issues, a lot of crashes, and some of my hardware was listed as supported but did not have drivers available for it yet.

I think Vista is the New Coke of Windows operating systems, worse than Windows ME.

CompUSA stores in Missouri are going out of business because they bought a lot of hardware for upgrading people to Vista and the only people buying Vista are mostly new machines. Though some of them buy a copy of XP and wipe the hard drive after buying a new system.

I myself am sticking to XP and using Linux for my server. Until I can afford a Macbook Pro and run Mac OSX, I will use XP as my main OS because I got software that needs XP to run it. If I can afford a Mac system I can use the Mac version of the software if it exists. The Mac is now a PC anyway because it uses an Intel chip, it can use Bootcamp to run Windows or Parallels, so I could still use Windows on the Mac.

It might be a while before I can afford a Macbook Pro, so I am stuck using this old system that run XPs Pro.

Vista SP1 is due out some time in 2008, I don't think Microsoft can make Vista stable and usable enough until at least SP2. The same thing happened to XP and people stayed with Windows 2000 until XP SP2.

Now a way around this is to turn off that security feature that warns the user they are deleting files, etc. But then that leaves them open to getting infected by malware.

Now in the past I didn't like Apple, but Apple has made some good changes. Everything I criticized them for, they changed since 1995. I wish I can find my old posts where I said make an Intel Mac and a PowerPC Mac and see which one sells better, most likely on the old Apple Doomsday Clock forum before it went to Yahoo and then EzBoard and the guy who ran it took it down after his ISP got hit with too much bandwidth from the people reading it. I take back every negative thing I said about Apple and Steve Jobs, they got to where I wanted them to be eventually.

Oh yeah, here is that Apple Mac and PC advertisement about Vista Security on Youtube, enjoy:
