New Temptation
[link|http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/146427.htm|http://www.pistonhea.../sales/146427.htm]

I know, I know, I know. Servicing. Fuel. Parking.

I am fully cognisant of all the drawbacks of this humungous hunk of car.

I so very want it.

New Most big waftpanzerwagens are auto.
Autoboxes are evil, but the BMW autoboxes on the big 'uns are about the least evil there are.

Nothing says "out of my way, peasants" like 6 cylinders in each bank.

New If it would get it out of your system,
I'll let you drive my 6.8L, V10, 5-speed automatic transmission vehicle around the block.

Unfortunately, it weighs 6 tons or so. :)

New If it's peasant-repelling you want...
I was once able to almost make cars jump out of my way, carve through traffic, and basically have a happy, hassle-free drive.
At first I thought I was just having a lucky day on the roads, but the reason behind such a pleasant trip struck me a bit later on. I'd borrowed a car for the day - a big old dented rusty Holden Kingswood wagon,[link|http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Holden_Kingswood_%28HX_series%2C_1976%29.jpg|not too dissimilar to this sedan].

So I was basically sending out these "Get out of my way, it's obvious a few more dents on my car won't make a difference" vibes - and all the nice shiny cars out there happily complied, be they peasants or otherwise.
Two out of three people wonder where the other one is.

Rent One for a day, w/end !!!

Somewhere on the Sceptered exists {Shirley} a counterpart to the <same palliative> as served locals, for years here in the Colonies: they'd go to Mexico (unclear whether M. City or Acapulco) and for quite less than some local US $type might charge: rent a Ferrari for a few days.

New How Murican.. the Epitome of Excess R'US
Can't Imagine how that truck would go around a corner.

The suspension doesn't look capable of emulating the Gamaunt Leaning Sidecar (a specimen of which I saw, and which seemed to do the trick) -- so I guess it's just another sort of 3-D Star Wars droid model to ooh and ahh at, trying to get people to drool over ... Something, from Keerysler-Bends (?)

Pity.. there are no incipient suicidals willing to cram it into a suitable airfoil and see if they can, in fact, beat The World's Fastest Indian.

(The gearing numbers re theoretical top speed are, of course - more than irrelevant)

Cute, but Gaudy ;{

New Looks like something from "Tron"

New Given that it's barely functional . . .
. . it can easily be upstaged.

A bit over a year ago I was down in Burbank and heard a very odd metallic whining sound - very odd indeed - for street level.

It was Jay Leno in black leathers, out for a jaunt on one if his toys - a fairly normal looking black and chrome motorcycle - except for the sound. It's powered by a turbine engine salvaged from a crashed helicopter. It's reputed to be fast.

I mentioned it to the guy whose computers I was servicing that afternoon. His reply, "Yeah, that guy really knows how to spend his money".
[link|http://www.aaxnet.com|AAx]
New For a minute there ...
Thought you just might have seen him on [My! ex-] his Shadow! - with that black, chrome .. intro.

(That is, on the calendar pic of his perfectly restored jewel, the s/n is almost.. legible and it looked like one of Mine. Closer inspection / ~reading license plate with-5-pixels: it's off a few digits; prolly made same week.)

Oh well. If you bump into him again, ask if I can visit almost-my bike for a 5 min mind-meld? Please!?

New I'd rather have one of these

New I remember when they first came out. Tried to sell "safety"
The argument was that if one bank failed you could still drive home at 100 mph on the other as it was essentially 2 independent 6s that were coupled at the crank. I somehow doubt that that's a common failure mode.

Nice car though. :-)

Cadillac is now pushing a [link|http://autoweek.com/assets/pdf/CW13643322.PDF|V-12] (AutoWeek cover). It's very much based on the Cadillac Sixteen showcar from 2003.

I'd be very surprised if they were able to produce such a thing in less than 3 years (look at how long it took them to get the SSR out and it was just a pickup, and GM was making money then).

Cheers,
Scott.
(Who would probably get a quick bike and buy a big insurance policy instead of a V-12.)
