Not sure if he meant strictly programmers, but I figure at least 1 or 2 to do MicroFocus Cobol, 1 or 2 to do VB, (MS SQL Server 7 for either application would be helpful), maybe one or more Novell/NT network people. We're a small business that does plastic cards and custom paper printing. Parent corporation is FiServ, a large financial conglomerate - they have their fingers everywhere. He returns to the office for one or two days every two weeks. Just say that you've heard we might have an opening and you would like to be considered; don't need to mention me since they don't give referral bonuses. And they don't offer relocation, unless you're a very good negotiator. How much is unknown, and I don't know if they've advertised on any boards yet. But we certainly have the workload, so you won't be bored. And, you already know Darrell Spice and I down here, so that would be a start. Post #28,110 by bconnors 2/12/02 9:55:59 AM Reply	Norm - the latest scoop Jay Stuart (our HR Manager) just stopped by and thanked me for sending my friend's resume his way. I explained how I know you through a IT professional community on the Internet, and while I don't know you personally, I have seen a version of your resume and you have the skills that we need. He replied that you certainly seemed to have a lot of what we could use, but he wasn't sure what our IS Director, my ex-manager and current manager have set up as far as personnel needs. He forwarded it on to the former HR manager, who has returned to fill in part-time while Mr. Stuart is off on Reserves duty. One point, though, is that he thought that I knew you personally and you were also from Austin. But for what it's worth, it's still a good sign. BConnors "Prepare for metamorphosis. Ready, Kafka?"

Part of my family used to live in Texas at one time. If they allow telecommuniting, I am there. I have a DSL line and can use PGP or OpenPGP to send in source code. :) Ironically my older employer still has not replaced me, and they have had ads for over four months in the local papers. They dumped my entire workload on another programmer instead of spreading it out. I am still in contact with some of my ex-coworkers, who feel that I was unjustly let go.
