That would let them put in a real Republican to replace him in the Senate. Dems lose the numerical advantage. Tricky, eh?
This could be an initial offer, expected to be turned down, so that they can put the shithead forward while saying, "Well, we offered Gates...".
Ummm... I really don't like Lieberman... I suppose that comes through...
