Welcome to IWETHEY!

New Sounds good
Here is a redacted email I just got from my PFY from the old gig.
Note: He's a Perl programmer under Linux.

Subject: {{old company}} is fucking joke

Hey {{me}}. Get ready to laugh....

Today MIS ( EVERYONE under {{old boss}}) had a meeting and it was announced
to us that VB.net and ASP.net are the languages ALL new systems are
written in going forward. Yes, that's right I said VB.net!!! What a
fucking joke. I thought you would get a kick out of this. I'm obviously
immediately looking for a new job after a announcement like this. I was
going to look, in time, around DC, but this just speed things up for me.

Hope all is well going at {{new company}}. later,

New What will be fun is revisiting the situation in a year.
I'll enjoy hearing about how far things have fallen.
Regards,

-scott anderson

New I'm competing with them now
The worse they get, the better I am.

I expect to lose inside information as soon as he is gone, which will be in a month or so.

Sucks to be them, happy to rip them to shreds.

The new people are all about internal corporate politics. They don't give a rat's ass about customer satisfaction. I like it this way.
New C++ didn't work out then?

New Different competing department
When I was there, the MIS director figured the C++ effort would flame out in a few months, and then he could let me loose to write it all in Perl.

He has no faith in the group doing the C++. And there are MANY more project going on, not just the one I was working on.

He has a new hire, an old buddy, who is a VB person.

Since he trusts her to pull his ass out of the fire, something tells me he blessed her choice and told everyone else that is the direction.

Hehe.
