In what appears to be one of the newest developments in the deadly war waged by the insurgency, the ministry said those who are kidnapped do not know their car has been loaded with explosives when they are released. This comes from the Iraqi government, so I don't know how trustworthy it is. But that is an interesting new low. The other interesting development, not mentioned in the above article, is the US military is claiming that anti-tank weapons identical to the ones used by Hezbollah have appeared in Iraq. Jay

There were some news reports early on of insurgents going into people's houses, rounding up the family, and sending out a family member to blow themselves up, under the threat of execution of the rest of the family if they didn't do it. I think most of the insurgents are actually a lot less willing to give their own lives than one would think, especially from the combat reports I've seen - they basically open up, and then as soon as they take fire, dissapear and fade into the population. Standup shootouts pretty much don't happen. Odoru aho ni miru aho! Onaji aho nara odoranya son son!

A significant part of the insurgents come from Saddam's old Baath party and are self interested criminals. I would bet they are the ones using this method. Jay
