New They're getting it fixed
I got a call from my dad today and they are going to ship the computer to IBM to fix it. My dad's going to a town near the US border and will cross over to the states to ship it. The computer will be shipped to me once its been fixed. Mom's coming up for a visit in a couple months and will pick it up then.

New IBM service is good
I had a freind who was in Denver and had an IBm Thinkpad that he took to a Cybercafe up there. He spilled Merlot on the keyboard, and frotzed the while thing up. IBM replaced the keyboard, and even upgraded the BIOS to be Y2K Compliant (This was in 1998, IIRC). IBM did it quick and it worked like a champ afterwords.
