New Car insurance
Does anyone have experience with GEICO? I just received my renewal notice from Farmers (been with them over 20 years) and the rate just jumped by 45% - to $516/6mo). GEICO can give me the same coverage for about half (287.60/6mo) of what Farmers is asking.

Liability only.

Minimum coverages would reduce premium by $50/6 mo, so will stay with current level of coverage.

AARP (!) is $780/yr.

New GEICO used to have a bad reputation. USAA?
This is just hear-say - I've never had GEICO.

It used to be that if you filed a claim with GEICO they would drop you or raise your rates tremendously.

I don't know if it's still the case.

I get suspicious of companies that advertize on TV too much. How much lower would their rates be if they didn't spend so much there?

What about [link|http://www.usaa.com|USAA]? Our car and home insurance is with them. (One needs a family member that is, or has been, in the military to join.)

HTH.

Cheers,
Scott.
New Retired from Army too long ago
Must apply by Dec 31 of year leaving AD.

New Progressive's online quote
Came to $480/6 mo liability only for 1 car.

GEICO is $278/6
Farmers is $516/6
AARP/Hartford is $784/12

Others were higher...

All with same coverage limits.

New I've had GEICO for years
Only good experince. Very prompt, very helpful. Between me and my wife we've had about 4 accidents over last 7 years, and GEICO worked just fine. My only beef with them was that the glass shop they sent me to was utterly worthless - screwed up the glass installation and damaged the door. Then again, it is the closest glass shop to my house.

New Use Secura. Then get "Milestone Coverage" from them
They'll know what you mean.

Get a good Secura Agent and you'll never go back to anything else.
