As fortune would have it...
..he announced an unexpected show in Philly Monday night so I got to go see him.
Played some King Crimson material along with some of his newer tunes. Backing him were 2 young kids from the >real< School of Rock in Philly. They were un-freakin-believeably talented.

Speaking of talented kids from Philly ...
Have you been watching America's Got Talent? There's this 11-year-old girl from Philly that sings blues, gospel, rock ... She did a Janis Joplin number, and if you closed your eyes you thought it was her. No 11YO should be allowed to be that talented.
Great line from the finals. After Bianca did her number, Brandy (one of the judges, recording artist with over 10.5-million albums sold) said, "You make me want to go practice."
Oh, and the kid from Indiana that plays harmonica is freaking scary-good. They had John Popper (Blues Traveller frontman) come in to give him some tips. Said afterward that the kid was one of the best harp players he'd ever heard, and he's 12.

Bianca won, the harp player was runner-up!
There is justice in the world...
jb4 "So don't pay attention to the approval ratings that say 68% of Americans disapprove of the job this man is doing. I ask you this, does that not also logically mean that 68% approve of the job he's not doing? Think about it. I haven't." — Stephen Colbert, at the White House Correspondent's Dinner 29Apr06

I just can't fathom the mindset of a 419 victim.
They have to be horrifyingly naive with a strong enough streak of greed to blind them and be a bit short on ethics too - every one of these scams makes it clear it's a bit illegal - keeps you from talking to anyone about it.
Being a minister and wife I suspect they suckered for one of the prayerful Christian oriented ones. Some of them are pretty well written these days, but really . . . .

Deadly tinned meat?
Hint:
SPAM is a tasty pork meat product.
Spam is unsolicited commercial email.

Peter's folks developed a taste for it during . . .
. . the last big unpleasentness.
Cans of SPAM are packaged in fancy (and very expensive) gift packages in Japan and Korea.
Hormel says one of their biggest markets has been to WWII GIs who had sworn upon discharge they'd never touch SPAM again for the rest of their lives.
Apparently war is good for SPAM sales.
