Agreed, though I found the followup "Olympos" lacking.
For one, I felt the ending was a bit too Deus Ex Machina, though considering some of the main characters, perhaps that was appropriate.

I haven't read that one yet...
But yes, the Deus Ex Machina theme runs throughout Ilium (and the characters even joke about it at one point).
