New New drivers for OS/2
Someone asked me if anyone is developing new drivers for OS/2 for the latest video cards and audio cards. He noticed that big hardware vendors no longer support OS/2. Are there third parties making the drivers still? Where can we find this information? Thanks. Stuff like Geforce cards, etc.

New Video drivers
Video card manufacturers don't bother with OS/2 drivers because SciTech Display Doctor handles them. I'm transitioning all the OS/2 system in my care to the SciTech driver as they get upgraded to AGP video cards. SciTech supports PCI and AGP but not ISA cards.

IBM's site offers a free OEM version of Display Doctor, and there is a "pay for" version that has additional features.

With the SciTech driver you can actually shut down, change the video card to a different model, start back up and have it work.

There is an incompatibility with the Kensington OS/2 mouse driver, but I find I don't need that any more, because once I've moved to a PS/2 mouse the OS/2 native driver works well enough.

New ALSA for OS/2
[link|http://www.alsa-project.org/|ALSA] is the Advanced Linux Sound Architecture, an all-in-one audio driver for Linux, similar in concept to SDD's all-in-one video driver for OS/2.

As mentioned in my prior [link|http://z.iwethey.org/forums/render/content/show?contentid=12497|Warpstock Report], Oliver Stein(IBM Germany) did a presentation on forthcoming device drivers, one of which is an OS/2 port of ALSA.
