Mark read was in the future
When the server came back up, the time was about 18 minutes in the past. If he had marked the forum read shortly before the downtime -- which I suspected he may have -- then my new post would have a timestamp prior to the flag.
In other words, he clicks "Mark Read" at 6 p.m. The server goes down, and comes back up at 6:05, but the clock says it's 5:47. I post. My timestamp is "earlier" than his mark, so it doesn't show up as being "new".
