New Workout with your Playstation
I started a workout with [link|http://www.dignews.com/review.php?story_id=13241|Kinetic] this week on my PS2. It uses the Eye Toy camera to put you into interactive games which are designed around 4 fitness zones: Combat, Cardio, Toning and Mind & Body. Kinetic comes with the Eye Toy as well as a lens adapter that expands the field of vision. Luckily enough, my family room is big enough that I don't need the adapter as I accidently gave it to my dad when I gave him the camera to use as a web cam(I already have an Eye Toy camera hooked up from a prior game).

You can free form the games or choose a personal trainer which sets up a 12 week plan based on your input of age, weight, activity level and so on. I opted for the 12 week plan. It has you workout 3 times a week: Sun/Mon, Tue/Wed and Thu/Fri/Sat.

The start of each workout begins with a warmup routine. After that are some games that Kinetic picks out(so far I've had 2 each day, don't know if that will change), followed by a routine that you get to choose. The session then wraps up with some stretching.

The games it picks out are from the 4 fitness zones. Combat games are short in duration, but intense, while cardio games last the longest and keeps you moving the whole time. Toning, is well Toning, while Mind & Body has things inspired from Yoga and Tai Chi.

I've just finished my 3rd working. After each workout my cloths were drenched and I'm currently feeling like I did back in high school when football practice started up so I gather it must be working :-)

New Too cool!
Since my kids have abandoned their PS2, I can commandeer it for my own purposes. School starts next week, so looks like I can be a sweat-buddy.

Thanks for the heads-up (and the elbow-up, and the knee-up, and the heart-rate-up) :-D
Smile,
Amy

New There are a few for the XBOX as well.
One I used a long time ago was a combo of Yoga and modified excerise to go along with the Yoga style.

Worked, but very tedious. As is any "video game for excercise".

New Still at it
The first workout this week had 3 games, so they do vary the quantity. The rest of this week has 2 games for each day.

I'm also starting to notice a difference, my yardwork didn't take as much out of me last time. My mom noticed too - during our last video conference she asked if I was losing weight as my face looked thinner.

New Woo, I'm getting me a PS2!
Two out of three people wonder where the other one is.
New they cranked it up a notch this week
and boy am I sore today :)

On this week the first and last workout have 3 games with the second workout only having 2.

I did find a problem last week - I normally do my workouts in the evening. I did my last workout during the day on Saturday and was having a lot of false hits. I guess the extra light was overdriving the camera. Because of this, I ended up scoring a D. All my prior workouts scored A or B. The personel trainer was "that's alright, at least you're working out and that's what really matters".

I also realized that trainer has a different set of workout cloths each time. It'd be nice if they had different warm-up and stretch sequences as well.

New having to take a break
I finally picked up a floor mat for the stretching and floor work. I didn't think to move it during the game portion of the workout and caught the edge of the mat and twisted my ankle :-(

Last week the workout increased to 4 days, with the first 3 days having three games, the last having two.
