From the distorted imagery, selective witness accounts, and almost round-the-clock emphasis on casualties, you would be forgiven for thinking that the level of death and destruction in Lebanon is on a par with that in Darfur, where Arab militias are slaughtering hundreds of thousands of non-Arabs, or with the 2004 tsunami that killed half a million in Southeast Asia.Straw man alert. No one thinks that. No one is saying that.
We know that it's millions in Darfur and only hundreds in Lebanon.
We know that it was a half a million in the tsunami and that it's only hundreds in Lebanon.
We know that it was tens of thousands in Dresden and Hiroshima and that it's only hundreds in Lebanon.
We know that it's only hundreds in Lebanon. Did you get it that time? I don't see anyone saying this is the worst human tragedy in history. Constantly pointing out that fact is not only stating the obvious, it doesn't address the issue.
We know this is not as bad as it could be if Israel were actively trying to kill innocent civilians. We also know it's worse than it would be if they were trying harder to not kill innocent civilians. Can you please stop saying "this is no worse that what other people are doing / have done".
