First post!
Knight is back in operation... on my cable connection. PLEASE go easy on it, as my upstream bandwidth is not the highest. That means that if you can handle settings like "collapsed view" and the like, please use them to keep bandwidth usage down.

Well, I d'know . . .
. . but given recent posting volume (unless we have a horrible horde of read-only lurkers), 375K upstream should do fine.
But - does your cable service know you're running a server? A lot of them forbid that in the TOS.

We'll be ok for a bit
I haven't seen any scans for HTTP, and I plan on getting this thing out of my den sehr schnell.

Well, it's a lot faster than it was anyway.
Response time here is about half the time or better than it was before the move.

Thanks for great work. And special thoughts sent Greg's way.

Well, as I got to thinking about it
I think it may actually be better to just leave the views alone. Yes, "Collapse threads" uses less bandwidth initially, but then you have to load the whole freaking thread to see which ones actually changed instead of just going there directly.

What's the concern?
Are you worried about peak bandwidth, and greedy users slowing the site for everyone? Or total usage hitting a monthly cap for the service?

And should we turn off FasterFox if we're using it?
[link|http://fasterfox.mozdev.org/faq.html#Im_a_webmaster,_how_can_I_prevent_prefetching|FaFo FAQ - How can I prevent prefetching?]
I'm not using FasterFox with Firefox at the moment, so I can't turn it off. But if FaFo might put an extra load on knight, maybe doing what the link suggests should be considered.
Cheers, Scott.

I guess this means no Music Title Marathon for a while, at least. I can certainly live with that...

Thanks, Scott!
I appreciate all your hard work even if I wasn't here to see it happen. It was so nice to finally get online tonight and find my old familiar IWT. :)
