One of Charlotte LUG members is a contractor (software developer) for the Bank of America here. He has been given an end date and is looking for a new job/assignment. His job right now is to train some new H1Bs that know didly about the business but will be taking over his job. One twist here is that some of the work will actually be performed in India.

New The H1B mess
Desitter said this happened to his job, he was given an End Date and was to train some H1B workers. He said it was like working in India, because of all the H1B workers around him. They worked for half his salary, and they worked fast and they worked long hours for no extra pay.

They move the work over to India because labor is cheaper over there. They can pay them 1/10th the salary they pay over here. $5000USD instead of $50000USD a year for a starting salary. Plus over there they can work 80+ hour weeks in a program code sweat shop IT department.

I've complained about it as well to my critter, but they either don't want to hear it or are on the side of the corporations that are benefitting from all this cheap labor.
