Israel is ready for "an extended campaign against the Palestinian Authority" unless a kidnapped soldier is released, Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said Tuesday.
Israel holds the Palestinian Authority responsible for the safety of Cpl. Gilad Shalit, captured Sunday by Palestinian militants at a guard post inside Israel.
Israeli Deputy Prime Minister Shimon Peres said Meshaal was behind the kidnapping and "wants to destroy any chance for peace."
So far only a show of force, but Isreal is moving it's armored companies forward and preparing for operations. No matter how this turns out it greatly threatens any chance of peace. It could easly tear the government of Isreal apart also.
I won't blame Israel for using force to try and rescue a hostage alive. But I do blame Israel for using collective blame and punishment.
